The Pool

Indolent, the pool

stretches out

under indoor lights,

turning lazy blue

towards the glow.

One lone swimmer

thrashes, fights his

private battle-

arms triangular when rising;

hands and feet explosions.

He sends out currents

catching stragglers

as they struggle.

Bodies submerged,

heads sitting

on the surface

at angles;

they kick and slap

the face of water

in frustration.
