Hope and Anxiety

A quiet wish is granted

With such a portrait of translucent bloom

From a golden colony of life force

Interrupting flashes of grievous doom

The grimaces paint an unfortunate paradox

Upon lineaments of flowering emission

Born of an era of benevolence

Before the days of electronic transmission

Anxious, I must ponder

If my perennial light shall be robbed of it's flame

A latent voyage of emptiness

Drawing scant consolation from the frame.
