Love Story

He roused her from the deep sleep

she was trying hard not to wake from,

wanting to convince her she wasn't dreaming

and he promised never to leave her again.

Then he stretched himself over her

like a quilt of many colours

and she spread herself beneath him

wrapping him around her,

wishing winter snows would fall

on all other seasons.

He told her he would climb

barefoot and naked

to the top of the highest mountain,

just to prove his love for her

and promised this wasn't all a dream.

But she didn't believe him;

not until she heard the stars telling the moon

what they had witnessed.
