A Poet's Call

  The Poetry of Lloyd Rock

I have been writing since I was 14/15 years old after reading the martial art philosophy of Bruce Lee, it was at this point that I pestered my friends for months on end about Jeet Kune Do and the intrinsic truth it held about martial arts as a whole; my friends humoured me until I stopped pestering them and moved on, writing all of my thoughts down as best as I could.

From that point I began writing philosophical aphorisms on my many subjects which continued into my college years. Once I left college and went to university to study philosophy I took up a creative writing module, and since then have been writing both poetry and song lyrics. I took a creative module in all three years of my degree and don’t regret it at all – it helped me both creatively and to structure many of my philosophical ideas.

Since leaving University I have written both poetry and songs, which in the past two years I have begun to perform in public in open mic nights and various other things.
